FOUR HUNDRED (and one!) BACKERS!!
almost 7 years ago – Mon, Apr 22, 2019 at 04:37:51 PM

We're rolling into the second half of our campaign, 72% funded and just over 400 backers. We've been featured in the Oregonian ( https://www.oregonlive.com/books/2019/04/steve-duin-katie-proctors-great-adventure.html ) and on a great podcast (https://wcpever.com/2019/04/19/wcpe-episode-252-books-with-pictures-kickstarter) and there's lots more of that sort of thing on the way. (Do you have a spot for me on YOUR podcast or blog? Reach out!)

In the land of renovations, we're starting to frame out the new retail bathroom this week, working on the electrical upgrades for the new foodcarts, figuring out how to stop the basement from leaking, and starting to plan the new retail counter and entryway display.

Excelsior!

Just a note as we roll into this New Comic Book Day— there is a lovely piece in the Oregonian about the move and the new building in today’s Oregonian. Check it out, and please share! http://bit.ly/2Xlyq2h

Wow wow WOW! Friends, we are doing SO WELL. My kids were going to  help me say thank you, but they got stage fright, so the best neighbor  kid on the block jumped in. WE ARE HALFWAY TO OUR GOAL. Thank you, thank  you, thank you. Keep telling everyone.

More news, updates, stories, and rewards, coming soon. Happy Friday! 50%! We love Squirrel Girl!

All the best,

Katie (& Kalman)

Amazing Start!

Well. THAT was overwhelming. Katie here: Thanks to everyone who has backed so far— your support means the world to our community. And thanks, too, for the pep talks and love letters to the shop that you have been sharing on social media. One of the most exciting things about this campaign is getting to put our little shop in front of a much wider audience, to make sure that we can reach even more folks and tell them about what we do, and how they can be a part of it.

We bought the building a month ago, and since then I have been living in construction space. When you’re living in that zone, you start to see how money turns into very concrete things: the tens of thousands of dollars that become water access, sewer connections, shelves, murals. The opportunity to pay tradespeople for their skills, or to set my own tools to a job, is such a tremendous privilege. I’m grateful to everyone making that work possible.

We will be adding new original art rewards tomorrow, and throughout the campaign. If you have an original comics art piece that you would like to donate, please reach out!

And thank you, thank you, thank you.

More soon.

With love, Katie
